The Capital City Council of the Blind of Washington is a consumer advocacy organization dedicated to the belief that blind and partially sighted individuals can lead productive lives and contribute to society with independence and dignity. CCCB members work and live in the southwestern Washington State communities of Thurston County and Mason County including the cities of Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater, and Shelton.We seek to gain equality, opportunity and independence for the legally blind and visually impaired not only in employment but also in the right to fully participate in all aspects of our community as exemplified in such legislation as the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. segments of our society. Our financial support comes from membership dues,
fundraising efforts and donations. We are affiliated with both the
Washington Council of the Blind (WCB) and the American Council of
the Blind (ACB). The WCB has chapters throughout Washington State that
take turns hosting its annual statewide convention. The ACB is the
nation's leading membership organization of blind and visually impaired people
and has an annual nationwide convention.
